HD Ackerman's assured century guided Leicestershire to a 39-run victory over Ireland in the FP Trophy at Grace Road.

Opening the innings, Ackerman fired 12 fours and a six, and when he was out in the 39th over, 190 were on the board.

James Allenby added two fours and two sixes in his 62 from 76 balls as the Foxes posted 251-6 after being put in.

The Irish top four all hit fours but none could make a score, though fifties from Andrew White and Gary Wilson, both dismissed by Allenby, took them close.

Leicestershire were only able to advance their total by 23 runs in the final five overs as a succession of batsmen fell looking to play big shots.

Ireland had made a sound enough start but the loss of three wickets for a solitary run left them with too much to do.
