Usman Afzaal hit a workmanlike century to earn Surrey a draw against Yorkshire on an uneventful last day of their Championship clash at The Oval.

Surrey had resumed three runs behind on 56-2 and lost Scott Newman in the fifth over but then Afzaal and nightwatchman Murtaza Hussain (56) steadied the ship.

Ali Brown went cheaply but Jon Batty hit a half-century and Afzaal completed his ton off 193 balls with 10 fours.

Afzaal went two overs later and the draw came after with Surrey 240 ahead.
