Australia vice-captain Michael Clarke will miss the start of their tour of the Caribbean for personal reasons.

Reports suggested his delay was linked to the health of his fiancee's father, while Cricket Australia said Clarke would arrive on an unspecified date.

The squad departs on Saturday, with Michael Hussey temporarily taking over as captain Ricky Ponting's deputy.

Selectors are due to name batting cover for Clarke for the three-Test series, which starts on 22 May in Jamaica.

Clarke, who captained the Twenty20 side earlier this year, took over the vice-captaincy following the retirement of Adam Gilchrist.

When the squad was announced last month, leg-spinner Stuart MacGill and batsman Simon Katich were handed Test recalls, with Brad Haddin replacing Gilchrist as wicket-keeper.

Uncapped Ashley Noffke, fellow paceman Ben Hilfenhaus and leg-spinner Beau Casson were also named, while Shaun Marsh, son of former coach Geoff, is in the one-day squad.

After the Test series, a Twenty20 international will be played on 20 June followed by five one-day internationals, concluding on 6 July.

Test squad: Ricky Ponting (captain), Michael Clarke, Beau Casson, Stuart Clark, Brad Haddin, Matthew Hayden, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mike Hussey, Phil Jaques, Mitchell Johnson, Simon Katich, Brett Lee, Stuart MacGill, Ashley Noffke, Andrew Symonds.

ODI squad: Ricky Ponting (captain), Michael Clarke, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark, Brad Haddin, Matthew Hayden, James Hopes, David Hussey, Mike Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, Andrew Symonds, Cameron White.
