Bad weather prevents play at Oval

Persistent rain and bad light denied Surrey a chance to press for victory as no play was possible on the final day at The Oval, earning Lancashire a draw.

The home side were always going to face a difficult task, needing to enforce the follow-on and bowl Lancs out again.

The visitors needed to score a further 147 from 241-6 to save the follow-on.

Umpires Peter Hartley and George Sharp said play would begin after lunch but as Surrey took the field they judged the light was unfit and drizzle set in.
