James Benning smashed 106 from 84 balls as Surrey defeated Middlesex by five wickets with 18 balls left at Lord's.
Middlesex made an atrocious start after opting to bat, with Eds Smith and Joyce plus Owais Shah back in the pavilion with only nine runs on the board.
South African Gareth Berg hit six fours and a six in his 65 and Ben Scott added 52 from 69 balls to take them to 233-8.
But Benning fired 15 fours and two sixes before he was third out, Ali Brown seeing Surrey home with 40no.
Andrew Strauss made 13 before he chopped onto his stumps, but Berg looked in excellent touch, with shots on both sides of the wicket.
But Benning's third one-day century inspired his side to an impressive win.
