"The games roll on, it's a terrific workload the players are asked to do," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"The downside of doing well is every game is crucial.
"If we can win then we have every chance of finishing top of the group, and that means a home draw and that will be fantastic for the club."
Durham's record in Twenty20 competition has been poor but Cook believes the new personnel have helped change the county's mindset about the short form of the game.
"We have a lot more expertise in the team this year with the two overseas guys [Albie Morkel and Shaun Pollock] and Dale Benkenstein getting experience in the Indian Cricket League," he said.
"There was a natural focus on things and the fellows have enjoyed growing into the competition.
"The 10 games we've had to play make it a long time, but it gives you a chance to get established in the competition and get a pattern going."
