Chris Rogers hit 57 to help Derbyshire to a six-wicket victory over Scotland with 14 balls remaining of their rain-hit FP Trophy contest.
The visitors had been well placed to repeat last year's win at Derby when they were 130-3 in the 29th over but lost the last six wickets for only 13.
That left the Scots with 169 but Derbyshire faced a revised 166 from 47 overs, then revised again to 136 in 34.
They lost three wickets in four overs but Rogers struck eight boundaries.
Derbyshire's seamers were often erratic, and skipper Rikki Clarke was guilty of consecutive deliveries that bounced over wicket-keeper Jamie Pipe's head and gifted the Scots eight runs.
Navdeep Poonia made a limited-overs best 75, reaching fifty from 50 balls, but when he tried to cut down to third man and edged into Pipe's gloves, it was the first of four wickets in 15 balls.
After a break for rain, South African Charl Langeveldt picked up his fourth wicket as the Saltires added only four more runs.
Their total was revised again after a second stoppage and Derbyshire were heading for a comfortable win until their own collapse, but held on nevertheless.
