Simon Jones took three of the four Gloucestershire wickets to fall as the visitors were finally bowled out for 444 on a rainy day two at Worcester.
Barely 11 overs were bowled on Thursday, but 2005 Ashes star Jones completed his first five-wicket haul in the championship since 2004.
The 29-year-old paceman removed Steve Snell before the wicket-keeper could add to his overnight 127.
He also bowled Mark Hardinges for 82 and Anthony Ireland as he claimed 5-92.
Jones, who has had terrible luck with injury over the past three years, is in a rich vein of form, having taken 5-32 in a career-best one-day performance against Hampshire on Sunday.
He has only just shaken off a neck injury but struck with his fourth ball of the day, Snell failing to add to his career-best 127 as he edged Jones' fourth ball of the day to wicketkeeper Steven Davies.
Hardinges then lost his off stump to the lively Jones and the paceman produced a similar delivery to bowl last man Anthony Ireland.
