The 29-year-old recently played for Chandigarh Lions in the Indian Cricket League in the game's shortest form.
He is being brought in because Australian Brad Hodge is in the West Indies with the national team.
And Hodge's orginal replacement Mohammad Yousuf has had to return to Pakistan duty after a month-long stint at Old Trafford.
Vincent has played 23 Tests and 102 one-day internationals for the Black Caps, scoring just less than 4,000 runs.
Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson said: "We are about to start a very important Twenty20 competition and we have brought in a player with a great reputation in the format who will add firepower to our top order.
"He is an exciting player and excellent fielder - just what we need for Twenty20 cricket."
The Twenty20 Cup begins on 11 June and the semi-finals and final are being held at the Rose Bowl on 26 July.
