Allenby top scored with 57 as the Foxes made 131-6 and then claimed 3-15, with two of his wickets coming in the last over as Notts were hustled out for 126.

Notts will wonder how they lost given the Foxes were 11-3 within four overs.

But Paul Nixon and Allenby pulled the innings round with a fourth-wicket partnership of 89 in 12 overs.

Nixon hit seven boundaries in his 44-ball 42 before chipping a catch to Will Jefferson at midwicket, while Allenby's half century came off 47 balls with five fours and a sweetly struck six off Andre Adams.

Allenby was bowled by Charlie Shreck, who finished with figures of 4-22, going for another big hit.

After Allenby had ensured the Foxes had a target to defend, Nadeem Malik's superb four-over spell saw him pick up four wickets for 16 runs to leave Notts in disarray.

Former Nottinghamshire man Malik picked up the wickets of Jefferson, Samit Patel, Bilal Shafayat and Chris Cairns to leave the Outlaws at 41-4 after seven overs.

But Australian Adam Voges' fine half century off 41 balls kept Notts in the game and with one over left they required nine runs.

But the win was snatched from their grasp by Allenby who claimed two wickets in two balls after Jeremy Snape had marked his final game in first class cricket by trapping Voges lbw for 59.
