Moores keen on Twenty20 practice

The five-year, winner-takes-all series begins on 1 November at Stanford's private ground in Antigua.

England have played 14 international Twenty20s, but have won only five, losing the other nine.

"It's a challenge for us. We haven't played too much Twenty20 international cricket," said Moores.

England have only two scheduled international Twenty20 games before flying to the Caribbean for the All-Stars match.

They face New Zealand at Old Trafford on Friday before playing South Africa at Chester-le-Street on 20 August.

England's one-day players used the opening fixtures in the Twenty20 Cup on Wednesday night as the ideal opportunity for an early hit ahead of the potential £500,000 payday.

However, short-game "specialists" could also come into the equation. England selected Warwickshire's Darren Maddy, Surrey's Chris Schofield and Sussex's James Kirtley for the inaugural World Twenty20 in South Africa last year.

Competition for places is expected to be intense, along with the pressure on the selectors who will decide the final squad.

But Moores said only merit will guarantee a player their flight to Antigua.

"The fact that it's worth more money doesn't matter, you still use the same judgement to pick the side," said Moores.

"When you're selecting any team, you pick the best team you think can win the game for England at any given time.

"For the Twenty20 World Cup we picked specialists and we took some information from that and we've got that to draw on when we pick the next Twenty20 teams.

"We've got limited opportunities before the Twenty20 World Cup next year in England so the best players will be picked to play that game.

"There will be no messing around, it will be the best team to win the game.

"You can never be sentimental when you're picking a team. It has to be the best team you can play whether it's for the Test match or a one-day international."
