Glamorgan's tough run chase became even tougher when they slumped to 9-2 in the second over.
But Gibbs launched an extraordinary fightback, with Monty Panesar (0-28 in two overs) just one of the Northants bowlers to suffer - although the England spinner did cling on to a skier in the deep to dismiss Michael Powell.
South African batsman Gibbs lost too many partners towards the end, though, and finally holed out off Hall after a 52-ball innings that included 14 fours and two sixes.
Hall wound up with a tasty 5-29, while fellow new-ball bowler Johan van der Wath returned a parsimonious 0-22.
Northants' fifth win in seven puts them in great shape for the quarter-finals, while Glamorgan's own bid took a dent.
