Onions puts Yorkshire in a pickle

Graham Onions' first five-wicket haul for a year put Durham in command against Yorkshire at Chester-le-Street.

The visitors were all out for 194, 210 behind, and Durham reached 16-0 in their second innings after opting not to enforce the follow-on.

Yorkshire would have been in terrible trouble but for a plucky innings of 70 by Adil Rashid, who rescued them from 50-6, adding 85 with Tim Bresnan.

Steve Harmison (3-40) dismissed Rashid, going for a big hit and edging behind.

He had hit 11 fours in his 121-ball knock.

Yorkshire are expected to have Matthew Hoggard in their line-up tomorrow following his release by England, with 19-year-old debutant Ben Sanderson the player nominated to stand down.

He was unfortunate enough not to face a ball when batting, having bowled 12 wicketless overs earlier.

Harmison was nowhere near as accurate as Onions, whose 12-over opening spell saw him pick up three crucial wickets.

He took his final wicket of the day when trimming Darren Gough's off bail to finish with 5-75 from 20 overs.
