Rainford-Brent, 24, told BBC London 94.9: "I had to perform earlier on in the season to get in and I'm really happy with where I am at the moment."

The 15-strong England squad head into the tournament the form team as they are now unbeaten in 14 matches.

"We're part of a winning team and nothing's better than that," she added.

"We had a good summer. I didn't get a long run in the team, so you're never really sure.

"But you just try to perform when you get your chance. I'm completely ecstatic at the moment, really happy."

England start their World Cup campaign on Saturday, 7 March 2009 taking on Sri Lanka in Canberra.

If they manage to successfully negotiate the group stage by finishing first, second or third, England will enter the Super Sixes alongside three from New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa and Australia.

All six teams will compete for a place in the World Cup final, due to take place in Sydney on Sunday, 22 March 2009.
