Langer has been impressed with the quality of Somerset's squad

Captain Justin Langer thinks the talent in Somerset's squad will allow them to challenge for the County Championship.

"There's some guys with international experience and we have some of the best young players in England," the Somerset skipper told BBC Points West.

"James Hildreth, Craig Kieswetter, Neil Edwards and Mickey Munday could easily play Test cricket.

"We've got as strong a squad as anyone. I think there isn't one county that particularly scares me."

He added: "There's some experienced cricketers around but we, equally, have a very experienced squad."

Langer also feels the atmosphere at Taunton's County Ground gives him every reason to believe his team can complete a spectacular turnaround, just two seasons after finishing bottom of Division Two.

"It was buzzing when I arrived last year and it's equally upbeat this year," he said.

"Now we're in the big league, if we continue to have the same attitude, then there's no reason why we can't have similar success."
